[March 17, 2014] – (OAKLAND, Ca.) - This year, the St. Mary’s College High School Alumni Community will not only celebrate the 2nd Annual Shakir Stewart Awards Sc–olarship Fundraiser, we will also celebrate what would have been our fallen brother’s 40th birthday.  Hot on the heels of last year’s successful gala, we have a star studded event planned and we hope that you will be in attendance.

On Saturday, April 12, 2014, from 6:30pm – 2am, friends and alumni from St. Mary’s and Holy Names High School will honor many teachers and former students such as: Damani “Phesto” Thompson (Hieroglyphics/Souls of Mischief), Tom “Lyrics Born” Shimura, Ryan Kyle Coogler (Fruitvale Station), Rodney Franklin, Russell Hornby (Grimm), Thomas McElroy (Foster/McElroy - EnVogue), and Chris Hicks at a formal affair at the Bella Ultra Lounge in Downtown Oakland.  The gala will be hosted by Kente Scott and Richie Rich (415), the event will feature presenters such as Kevin L. Nichols, Thomas McElroy, and Shawn Granberry; and performances by Phesto.  The proceeds of this will go to The Shakir Stewart Empowerment Fund which helps an African American male, like Shakir, attend St. Mary’s High School for free each year.

Tickets are $40 each and Bella Ultra Lounge is located at 561 11th St., Oakland, CA 94604.  The event is sponsored by The Watch Now Networks, Inc.
